The History of Jack Gray

Jack Gray Transport, Inc. of Gary, Indiana has been a Midwest staple in the transportation industry for nearly seven decades, with its red and gray trucks serving as a symbol for jobs and progress since 1951.

The company began operations under the ownership of the now-late Jack Gray, providing raw material and aggregate transportation services. Danette Garza took ownership of the company in 2015, pledging to modernize every aspect of operations. 

Jack Gray Transport, Inc. is now a certified Minority & Women’s Business Enterprise operated by skilled union professionals who ensure on-time delivery and customer service to maximize tonnage and minimize costs.

  • 1951 - Jack Gray Transport, Inc. established
  • 1970’s - Lakes & Rivers Transfer commences operations
  • Jack Gray Transport, Inc. launches Milwaukee/Menomonee Falls terminal
  • 1983 - Jack Gray Transportation Services, Inc. is launched 
  • 2015 - Danette Garza acquires Jack Gray Transport, Inc.
  • 2016 - 1 Million tons handled 1st year of ownership
  • 2017 - Jack Gray Transport, Inc. & Jack Gray Transportation Services, Inc. certified as WBE/MBE
  • 2017 - Lakes & Rivers Logistics, Inc. launched at Buffington Harbor (Gary, IN)
  • 2018 - Jack Gray goes “green” with clean diesel truck fleet
  • 2018 - Jack Gray launches solid waste refuse transportation division
